November 2015 Her Shave Co Unboxing
When I heard about Her Shave Co, I was excited. A lot of subscription boxes contain items that are more for fun than necessity, which is great, but it’s even better to get items that you’d already need. There are a lot of shaving companies out there targeted at men, but not many at women, so that was also nice to see. But was it worth the hype?
As was to be expected, I took out the razor first. This is a swanky razor - much more high quality than the disposable ones I buy at the grocery store. I’m looking forward to using it. The razor also comes with five disposable blades so I can replace the blade routinely rather than using a dirty blade over time. The razor and blades together are valued at $20.
This box isn’t just for the razor, though. It also comes with some sweet beauty and shaving products.
One of the bonus beauty products was a bottle of Mint nail polish in a “Pass the Scone”. I appreciate the shade because it’s neutral, which means I can wear it in a professional setting. I checked online and this nail polish ordinarily costs $12 a bottle! Definitely a neat item to get in this box.
Another extra was a container of Tiki Shaving Soap in the Frosted Woodland scent. The item is fitting for the box, considering it’s a shaving box, and the scent is well-suited to the winter season. It’s also vegan, which I know will be a plus for a lot of people. These soaps usually cost $14 each.
Finally, I pulled out a shaving brush. I’ve never used one of these before, but I’ve seen them used in movies when men get their faces shaved. I was surprised to see how expensive these are - they can be priced as high as $60! This one isn’t branded, so I’m assuming it’s lower-end, which still gives it an estimated value around $10.
So was the box worth the hype? Definitely! This box costs $25 per month and it contained $56 in items! I was impressed with the box when I first did the video review and even more so when I calculated the value of the items inside. I think pretty much any woman who shaves can appreciate this box and it could make a great gift too. If you decide to get a subscription, make sure to use code “SHAVE20” to get 20% off your first box.
