September 2016 SquareHearts Review
I’ve wanted to try a fashion box for a while, but I’m not too enthused about the ones that require you to pay extra to keep the items (although I think they are definitely good for a certain market.) I’m just afraid I’ll be too cheap to keep anything, which would a waste! Although maybe I’ll change my mind when I try one.
But for now, I decided to try a box for which the cost covers all of the items inside, and you don’t have to pay anything extra to keep everything. The box is SquareHearts, which delivers a bundle of daily fashion essentials every month. I’ve been considering trying SquareHearts for a few months, and decided to finally give it a go after a coupon came up. How did it perform?
The first item in the box was a 24K Gold Collagen Face Mask. I didn’t realize this box contained beauty products, so this was a bonus for me. I’m not the biggest connoisseur of face masks; however, this one seems interesting and I will probably give it a try.

The second item was a purse! More fitting of the box, but still more than I expected. It’s a bit smaller than I prefer for a purse, but it will work well for when I need to bring a small, black purse somewhere. Note: the color doesn’t show well in the picture. It’s definitely black, not grey. However, subscribers could’ve gotten one from a selection of purses. This particular purse is 3AM Forever brand.
Estimated value: $25 (Source: Amazon.com.)
The third item was an orange and teal scarf. This is a fairly generic but still visually interesting type of scarf that I think will be nice to have on hand whenever I need to match a scarf to any outfits with similar colors.
Here is a picture of the scarf on! The scarf is unbranded, so I assumed the value based on similar products.

The fourth item was a multi-layer black lace choker. Chokers are really in-style right now, so this item really cemented for me how this box is great for playing along with the most recent trends.
Unfortunately, the clasp broke! This certainly isn’t high-end jewelry. Despite this, the choker still stays on - all of the pictures I took with the necklace were after the clasp had broken. Furthermore, for an item designed to keep up with trends, the long-term durability is not a priority.
Estimated value: $2 (Source: Aliexpress.com)
The fifth item was a set of 10 gold-colored bangles. While not particularly impressive, these are a fun product to have around that can pair with a lot of different outfits.
Estimated value: $4 (Source: aliexpress.com)
The sixth item was an eye shimmer in a “Champagne Gold” variety from yourMinerals Sweden. Again, I didn’t expect beauty in this box, so this was a nice addition. Not only that, but this particular makeup item is great. It’s actually one of the highest value items in the box!
Estimated value: $23 (Source: yourminerals.com.)
The seventh and final item was a berry boho tunic dress from Julia by loveJ. I consider this the main item of the box, and I’m happy with it. It’s not the type of dress I’d normally buy, but I like how it looks and plan to wear it, and that’s the type of experience that I think this box should provide.
Again, this box isn’t designer fashion, but I was happy with the product quality. With lace dresses I often worry about tears, but the dress arrived with no holes and made it through the first wash just fine. The dress also includes a slip, which is a nice feature.

And, here is a picture of me wearing the dress along with a bunch of other items from the box!
So not only does the box include items that fit current trends, but they also work well together. A full outfit (minus boots) for $50 or less!
Overall, the September 2016 SquareHearts box contained about $89 worth of items, more than making up for the $50 box cost! $50 is more than I’d normally spend on a subscription box, so I’m happy it provided a good value. Some of the items were cheaper, but I didn’t mind that so much because the box included some high-value items such as the eye shimmer and dress.
I was also satisfied with the variety of the box. Not only did it have apparel and accessories, but it had beauty products too. Being honest, I probably won’t wear the cheaper items in the box (choker and bangles) often, but I believe I will get enough use out of the higher-value items (dress, purse, and eye shimmer) to make it more than worthwhile.
I researched the box before making my purchase and saw a number of negative reviews in which people were charged for a box, but never received it. I didn’t have that problem. I purchased the box on September 21st, it was shipped on September 23rd, and I received it on September 24th. You might not receive it that quickly if you’re further away from their warehouse, but it seems that SquareHeart may have solved whatever problems they had before. I was kept updated throughout the process about when the order was being fulfilled, when it was shipped, and when it was delivered, which minimizes the potential for loss.
