July 2016 Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome Review
I’m a long-term subscriber to the That Daily Deal Monthly Mystery Box, which I will henceforth be referring to as the “Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome” after noticing that the host site has changed to 13Deals. It’s still the same subscription from the same parent company (Jammin Butter), so the updated name is simply to make things easier in case the host site changes again in the future.

Overall, I’ve had good experiences with the Monthly Mystery Box. Although some of the items are what might be considered “junk”, I typically get enough useful items to make up for the box’s cost.
The first item in the July 2016 Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome was a box of four Lighting Science 60W light bulbs. I’m not sure these are compatible with the lights I use, but if they are, I’m happy to have them! Light bulbs are something I usually don’t buy until after a light has already gone out, so it’s nice to have some on hand to avoid an emergency trip to the store. Estimated value: $17.00 (Source: Home Depot.)
The second item was an unbranded hammock with a built in travel bag. I didn’t previously own a hammock, so this could be a good item to have around. I appreciated that it came with the ropes and carabiners needed to hang the hammock. Estimated value: $13.00 (Source: 13deals.)
The third item was a chips maker and slicer set from Mastrad. This item intrigued me the most of all of the products in this month’s box. I’m not big into potato chips, but I could get on board with veggie and fruit chips. And if I end up not using the chips maker, the mandolin/slicer could still come in handy. Estimated value: $6 (Source: Amazon.)
The fourth and final item of the July 2016 Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome was a Happy Hour Glass from DCI. This is a fun product that features a beer glass on one end and a shot glass on the other. Estimated value: $8.00 (Source: Amazon.)
Overall, the July 2016 Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome contained about $44.00 worth of products. The low value combined with the low number of products makes this month’s box disappointing compared to the previous months. However, the value still exceeds the box’s cost of $25, so it’s a reasonable purchase to make as long as you think you’ll put the box’s items to use.
This month’s box has me thinking it might be time to end my subscription. Although it offers a fair value, the items weren’t practical enough for my uses. It’s common for boxes to have “off” months, so I’m going to see what the August box brings before making my decision.
