Fall 2016 Pusheen Box Review
Pusheen Box is an officially licensed quarterly subscription centered around the internet’s favorite cat, Pusheen! I love Pusheen and I’d been wanting to try the Pusheen Box for a while, and I finally bit and got the Fall 2016 box when it became available.
The box is about $50 after shipping and taxes, but it promises over $100 of first edition and exclusive Pusheen merch! Because the items are exclusives, I couldn’t do my regular value estimate for each one, but I’m confident the box’s value was at least $50. Read the full review and let me know if you agree.
The first item I took out of the Fall 2016 Pusheen Box was a Pusheen-themed sweatshirt! A similar sweatshirt sells for $36 from official Pusheen source Hey Chickadee, so we’re already off to a great start value-wise.
I normally don’t like repeating patterns on clothes (see February 2016 Loot Wearables Review), but because it’s Pusheen I’m willing to give it a pass. I would’ve preferred having a single image of Pusheen, but I’ll probably still wear this around sometimes. It’s great to get a sweatshirt as the weather gets cooler!
The second item was a Pusheen costume set! This was absolutely adorable and a perfect item for anyone who needed a last minute Halloween costume. It’s simple, but effective - there isn’t much else to say about it.
The third item was a cute bat Pusheen vinyl figure! This figure was a “spoiler” for the box and was what convinced me to make the purchase. I don’t have many holiday decorations, so this was a neat way to get some Halloween decor that had the added bonus of being Pusheen-themed.
The figure is just as cute as I’d hoped. However, I was perplexed to find that the figure can’t stand on its own, so I’m keeping it in the box for now. I don’t really understand how you’re supposed to display this if it can’t stand up on its own.
The fourth item was a 3d notebook that depicts Pusheen dancing in a pile of fall-colored leaves. I’m not big into notebooks, but I love the 3d effect on this one! It looks like a scene from an anime is playing when you move the cover from side to side. Check out my unboxing video to see the notebook in action. Although I’m not big into notebooks, this ended up being one of my favorite items of the box!
The fifth item was a tea cup and saucer set that shows Pusheen sitting in an apple pie. This is an adorable set that I think is a great addition to the box, although I was sad to see that my saucer had some paint chipped off. I suppose I could paint it, but I’m not sure I have the right type of paint to hold up under washing. Regardless, it’s always a bummer to get damaged items, and Pusheen Box has a reputation of exhibiting little care when quality issues are brought up.
The sixth item was a pad of Pusheen sticky notes. They aren’t the most practical sticky notes, but they’re the most adorable! They also have a decent enough space for jotting down quick thoughts that can be summed up in a word or two.
The seventh item was an air freshener of Pusheen in a pumpkin that emits a pumpkin scent. Not only is the image adorable, but the scent is strong, so it fulfills its purpose of freshening the air while giving it an autumn vibe. I would definitely hang this in my rearview mirror if I still had a car.
The eighth item was a set of silicone Pusheen drink coasters. Yet another cute but functional item! Those are my favorite types of items. Unfortunately, these items also came with a quality issue. As you can see from the picture above, the middle coaster has text in the middle that seems to have melted on from the back of one of the other coasters. This is still a cute set and the text won’t show up if there is a glass on top, so it’s not a big deal, but it’s still disappointing.
The ninth and final item was a Pusheen-themed pen with a matching charm. The pen is cute and useful on its own, with the charm being an added bonus. I’m going to see if I can attach the charm to my phone.
Overall, the Fall 2016 Pusheen Box delivered an array of adorable Pusheen-themed and seasonally appropriate goodies. Although the box had some quality issues, I still was happy with it as a whole and I believe it delivered a great value for the price. I don’t plan to continue my subscription simply because it’s a bit pricier than I can typically leave on auto-renew, but I might try out future boxes depending on the spoilers they provide.
